A GOOD OL’ BINGE…

we’ve all DONE it…

And we all DO it every now and then.

Sometimes it’s planned, sometimes it catches us of guard.

It doesn’t matter how much willpower and determination you have, at some point in your weight loss journey, you’re going to slip up.

You need to accept this.

And it’s not the odd ‘slip up’ that is going to get in the way of you getting your results.

It’s the way you RESPOND to the slip up that will be your derailment.

So how should we respond after we have over-eaten?

Well, the best way to respond would be to do NOTHING at all. By reacting to it, you’re just setting yourself up for it to happen again…

After a binge we usually have this auto-reactive response to punish ourselves by drastically restricting our calories or obsessively exercising to try and undo the damage.

If you reduce your calories by too much for too long as a counter reaction, you’re just setting yourself up for another binge.

If you try and over-exercise as a counter reaction, you’re going to burn yourself out which will lead to another binge

If you say to yourself “I’ve stuffed up and now my week is ruined so I will start again on Monday” (and it’s Thursday), you’re just setting yourself up for failure.

Instead, the best way to respond is to NOT REACT. By not reacting, you have the ability to take back control of the situation. And to ‘not react’ all you have to do it…

Get straight back to your eating plan.

Get straight back to your exercise plan.

Accept that slip ups happen, you put it behind you and you move on.

You are only human. And you will slip up again in the future. Just remember to not react and get straight back on course when it happens!
