NOT EVERY CALORIE IS CREATED EQUAL!

Serotonin is the neurotransmitter responsible for making us feel good. To put it in perspective, a large percentage of anti-depressants on the market are known as SSRI’s (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). SSRI’s block the reabsorption of serotonin so more serotonin is available for us to feel good. Anti depressants make us feel better through an artificial stimulant to the neurotransmitter. Serotonin is VERY important for our mental health.

As of last year, 1 in 10 Australians take an antidepressant. 2.7 million people across the country are currently taking them. They make up 10 of the 50 most prescribed tablets on the pharma market in Australia today. Scary stuff.

Now, let’s put that in perspective with the quote in the image. Can you imagine what you’re doing to your serotonin after you eat piles of sugar and piles of saturated fats? There are VERY strong scientific links between a poor diet and depression. Is it any wonder why?

A calorie is NOT just a calorie. Without proper nutrition, we get ill. We get sick. We get fat. We get depressed. We get lazy. And that, is not normal. That is not how our body is designed to operate.

You can count calories all you want but I can GUARANTEE, if you eliminate all processed food and stick to starchy veggies, green veggies and lean meats- weight will literally fall off of you in no time. Is that realistic? Sadly, not anymore. We live in a consumer driven world. But it goes to show just how much crap is on the shelves these days. It goes to show how we are so conditioned to buy off the shelves, whether it is an addiction, habit or continued behavioural pattern.

PLEASE think twice about what you put into your mouth. It’s not only your weight and physical health your effecting, but your mental health too. What means more to you – a piece of chocolate OR being healthy (mind AND body) for your family, children and loved ones.

Tough love ❤️
